My 5x5


5 The Darkness songs
  1.       Growing on me (Permission To Land-2007) Great guitar strings and drumming.

2.       I Believe in a Thing Called Love (Permission To Land-2007) Powerful vocals by Justin Hawkins and excellent support from the rest of the band. An amazing music video.

3.       Love is Only a Feeling (Permission To Land-2007) Slow start which leads to a dramatic end.

4.       One Way Ticket (One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back-2005) Great musical performance by all, almost tells a story.

5.       Holding My Own (Permission To Land-2007) Amazing vocals by Justin Hawkins and great Bass by Frankie Poulain.

5 Smashing Pumpkin songs

1.       Bullets with Butterfly wings (Greatest hits-2001) Tells a dark message behind it. Great aggressive guitar playing.

2.       1979 (Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness-1995) starts off cute and sweet with guitar strings but then dramatically turns into a classic rock song of all time.

3.       To Sheila (Adore-1998) great vocals and harmonising from Billy with brilliant and powerful lyrics.

4.       Ada Adore (Adore-1998) great musician skills that is typically The Smashing Pumpkins with an added alternative twist.

5.       Perfect (Adore-1998) Strongly dominated by a guitar riff which is repeatedly played through out and works with the other aspects of the song which shows strong compositional skills by the band.

5 Nirvana songs

1.       Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nevermind-1991) A classic that will always be one of the greatest rock songs. A great performance from the whole band the vocals, guitar, drums and bass is excellent.

2.       You Know you’re Right (Best of the Best-2002) Great Vocals from Kurt Cobain and a great overall song. With both strong musical performances from all three members.

3.       In Bloom (Nevermind-1991) strong start from the guitar, breaks down then picks back up in the chorus to deliver a fairly heavy rock song. Also features powerful drumming which is very defiant.

4.       Polly (Nevermind-1991) a song lead by Kurt Cobain where he refers to parrot. Great acoustic guitar work by Kurt.

5.       Territorial Pissings (Nevermind-1991) in my opinion a very mad and aggressive song with crazy guitar and weird lyrics but overall awesome.

5 The Cult songs
1.       Fire Woman (Pure Cult: The Singles 1984–1995) Great guitar work throughout with strong and powerful riffs, powerful lyrics and equally good drumming.

2.       She Sells Sanctuary (Pure Cult: The Singles 1984–1995) the most famous of all The Cult songs, a steady start then a hard finish. A Classic!

3.       Sun King (Pure Cult: The Singles 1984–1995) A great song referring to a God with the famous lyrics “this is where it all ends” which all fans of The Cult will know and Love.

4.       Wild hearted son (Pure Cult: The Singles 1984–1995) Strong musical performance throughout with the guitarist and the drummer working strongly together to great a great tune.

5.       Edie (Ciao Baby) (Pure Cult: The Singles 1984–1995) Slightly laid back and calm for The Cult but still musically impressive. They are telling the story and speaking about a girl names Edie.

5 Top films

1.       Leon (1995) Mathilda is only 12 years old, but is already familiar with the dark side of life: her abusive father stores drugs for corrupt police officers, and her mother neglects her. Léon, who lives down the hall, tends to his houseplants and works as a hired hit man for mobster Tony (Danny Aiello. When her family is murdered by crooked DEA agent Stansfield, Mathilda joins forces with a reluctant Léon to learn his deadly trade and avenge her family's deaths.

2.       The Lost Boys (1987) Teenage brothers Michael and Sam  move with their mum to a small town in California. While the younger Sam meets a pair of kindred spirits in geeky comic-book nerds Edward and Alan), the angst-ridden Michael soon falls for Star who turns out to be in thrall to David the leader of a local gang of vampires. Sam and his new friends must save Michael and Star from the undead.

3.       Brave heart (1995) tells the story of the legendary thirteenth century Scottish hero named William Wallace. Wallace rallies the Scottish against the English monarch and Edward I after he suffers a personal tragedy by English soldiers. Wallace gathers a group of amateur warriors that is stronger than any English army.

4.       Good Fellas (1990) A young man grows up in the mob and works very hard to advance himself through the ranks. He enjoys his life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes. A drug addiction and a few mistakes ultimately unravel his climb to the top.

5.       The Wolf of Wall Street (2014) In 1987, Jordan Belfort takes an entry-level job at a Wall Street brokerage firm. By the early 1990s, while still in his 20s, Belfort founds his own firm, Stratton Oakmont. Together with his trusted lieutenant and a merry band of brokers, Belfort makes a huge fortune by defrauding wealthy investors out of millions. However, while Belfort and his cronies partake in a hedonistic brew of sex, drugs and thrills, the SEC and the FBI close in on his empire of excess.
